Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA) / Relief Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Required as soon as possible
Salary – Grade 1 (£8.50 per hour)
6 hours 40 minutes per week, 38 weeks per year, term time only. This is broken down as 1 hour 20 minutes each day (12:00 – 13:20) Monday to Friday.
There may also be opportunity for additional hours as a Relief Learning Support Assistant and you will be required to attend some training sessions and/or meetings after school and on P.D. Days, which are not part of the contracted hours; for these occasions you would also claim additional hours.
We are looking to appoint a well-motivated person with a warm personality, to join the team at our all age special school. You will be working with pupils with a wide range of complex needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The age range is 2 ½ to 19 years.
Midday Supervisory Assistants work as part of the staff team under the direction of class teachers and may be required to work with pupils of any age and ability. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work co-operatively and to develop positive relationships are essential for this role.
Midday Supervisory Assistants need to be enthusiastic in supporting pupils to develop eating and play skills. Emotional and physical resilience, the ability to stay calm in challenging situations, patience and a good sense of humour are all very important.
