Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA)
Permanent Contract (subject to a six-month probationary period)
Required as soon as possible, or after February Half Term 2022.
Salary – Grade 1 (£9.25 per hour)
6 hours 40 minutes per week, 38 weeks per year, term time only.
This is broken down as 1 hour 20 minutes each day (12:00 – 13:20) Monday to Friday.
You will be required to attend some training sessions and/or meetings after school and on P.D. Days; for these occasions you would also claim additional hours.
There may also be opportunity for additional hours on an ad-hoc basis as a Relief Learning Support Assistant (Casual Contract).
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and well-motivated person with a warm personality, to join the team at our all age special school. You will be working with pupils with a wide range of complex needs including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism (ASD). The age range is 2 ½ to 19 years.
You may have skills already, or be keen to develop skills, in working with pupils with complex needs, including Autism. You will be expected to be very flexible and must have a truly positive approach to the strategies used to develop practice in schools and settings for our pupils.
Midday Supervisory Assistants work as part of the staff team under the direction of class teachers and may be required to work with pupils of any age and ability. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work co-operatively and to develop positive relationships are essential for this role.
Midday Supervisory Assistants need to be enthusiastic in supporting pupils to develop eating and play skills. Emotional and physical resilience, the ability to stay calm in challenging situations, patience and a good sense of humour are all very important.
A commitment to maintaining outstanding levels of Safeguarding for all our pupils and staff is essential.
