School Uniform

Although all of our school uniform is optional, we believe that wearing a school uniform encourages a sense of belonging and identity for the pupils.

The suggested uniform consists of: 

• Dark grey, black or navy trousers, skirt, pinafore dress or tailored shorts
• Royal blue Hillside polo-shirt or white shirt or blouse
• Royal blue Hillside sweatshirt or cardigan
• Emerald green Hillside T-shirt for PE

PE kits include shorts (preferably blue or black) and T-shirts (emerald green t-shirt or plain white t-shirt). Please send them in a named bag, preferably not a plastic carrier bag. Please also provide a swimming costume, towel and any necessary continence supplies for your child when swimming or hydrotherapy form part of their curriculum.

No jewellery should be worn except for identity bracelets or necklaces, watches and stud earrings.

All shoes should be low heeled. If your child is prone to removing their shoes, we recommend shoes with laces that can be tied and come up higher on the ankle.

Pupils need outdoor coats appropriate to the season as we spend time outside each day in most weather. Waterproof trousers or rain suits are recommended if your child enjoys exploring the mud!

We strongly recommend hats or caps in hot weather and wellington boots to be sent in all year round. If you wish your child to wear sun cream in hot weather, please send some into school clearly named and labelled and with written permission for staff to apply it. 

The school cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged property and we advise families that all items should be clearly labelled.

Please remember: non-branded generic school uniform items are acceptable and can be purchased from other uniform retailers, including supermarkets.

Pre-Loved School Uniform Scheme (second-hand)

At Hillside, we also run an environmental and purse-friendly option for purchasing some items of pre-loved school uniform. Where clean, laundered, recycled uniform is sent into school by families and is then available for other Hillside families to buy through the school office, at a significantly reduced cost.
